14th Door of the Advent Calendar: Christmas Jumpers and Weekend Fun

Christmassyness is at its height this weekend, a week before the Holidays finally start!

Party Ingredients office and warehouse staff are wearing their best Christmas jumpers today to support Save the Children’s Christmas campaign. The chefs and kitchen staff will join at lunch hour and pull on their most beautiful/hideous pieces. We’ve already seen a Wallace and Gromit themed oversized knitted jumper, a bright blue piece with a happy snowman combined with a Santa tie, and several tinsel and wrapping paper jumper decorations to add extra sparkle! All donations go to Save the Children's work in Africa.

When it comes to this weekend’s happenings, London is once again full of festive markets worth visiting whilst you still can and especially if you still have some Christmas shopping to get done.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market

Southbank Centre offers atmospheric wooden chalets with gifts, treats, and festive food & drink throughout December, but this weekend Real Food Markets are organising their Christmas market alongside it giving us even more of a good reason to finally visit! In addition to the normal offering, you can try, buy and eat traditional and non-traditional festive treats and ingredients such as mince pies, mulled wine, chutneys, cheeses and charcuterie. Yum!

Chatsworth Road Christmas Market

On three Sundays in December, Chatsworth Road in Lower Clapton organises a special Christmas Market as a festive addition to its regular market. This Sunday the 16th, the road will be completely car free making browsing the market stalls and enjoying festive treats and live music even more enjoyable. You can even buy your turkey and Christmas tree. Normally Chatsworth market is quite a lovely and lively local market known for good vintage, furniture and foods.

If you crave something quirkier and a bit different to the normal mulled wine and hand make wreaths, head to Village Underground in Shoreditch, where Secret Emporium together with the Secret Garden Party organise a Christmas Market Extravaganza for one day only this Sunday. The event is centred around showcasing the best new fashion and jewellery designers and makers, milliners, ceramicists and fabricators. Expect a festival of design and creative talent combined with cabaret and other performances, Secret Garden Party DJs, photo booths and of course – festive treats.
