17th Door of the Advent Calendar: It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas!
17 Dec 2012 | Vicky O'Hare
This week is all about getting to the Christmas mood proper. Christmas shopping is either done or fully underway and most Christmas parties have been partied, giving our diaries some room to fit in some of the festive shows and events London has to offer in this last week running up to Christmas. See below for our suggestions for this week’s best festive music, theatre and panto!
Gig: XFM Winter Wonderland at O2 Academy Brixton
To kick off the week with a bang, XFM and Rocksmith are hosting their annual Winter Wonderland indie concert tonight at O2 Academy Brixton. The line-up includes Lucy Rose, Theme Park, The Courteeners and Editors and more! Doors open at 6pm with the last band starting 10pm. www.xfm.co.uk
Theatre: Father Christmas at Lyric Hammersmith
A theatre collective Pins and Needles are back! Last year’s Holly & Ivan’s Christmas Adventure was a huge hit, and this year they have created a stage version of Raymond Brigg’s famous children’s Christmas story, Father Christmas. The play is suitable for the whole family as under 6 year olds are welcomed to see this festive adaptation of a timeless classic. www.lyric.co.uk
Panto: Beauty and the Beast at Shaw Theatre, Euston
The panto version of family favourite Beauty and the Beast has been titled as London’s best family pantomime this year. Famous names, including Alison Hammond from ITV’s This Morning, Harry Potter’s Rusty Goffe, and Eggheads CJ de Mooi, are joined by a vast supporting team of dancers and cast to create a fantastic Christmas extravaganza for the whole family. www.shaw-theatre.com
