Ice skating and mulled wine are a wintry London essential. Even when the weather is grim rather than Christmassy, pulling skates on, enjoying a mug of hot mulled wine and gliding on the ice brings a smile on your face and makes you feel festive. There are various spots across London to experience the icy fun
Skate at Somerset House
London’s most glamorous ice rink presented by Tiffany & Co. Somerset House offers a stunning setting in the vast courtyard of Somerset House, posh shopping arcade for before or after skating, and a stylish lounge to enjoy your mulled wine and post-skating cupcakes. There is a skate school for the little ones and club nights together with Ministry of Sound to turn the ice rink into a dancefloor with house, disco and Ibiza tunes.
Ice at The Tower
Ice rink set in the moat of Tower of London, with views changing from the beautiful old Tower on one side to the tall buildings of the City on the other. The ice rink is illuminated at night so the experience is at its best after dark. Ice Bar & Cafe serving hot and cold drinks and snacks by the rink.
Ice Rink Canary Wharf
With buildings soaring above and trees twinkling with Christmas lights, Canary Wharf Ice Skating is a fantastic alternative to central London skating. It is also the first in London to offer an extended skating rink so that you can skate through the trees in Canada Square Park. Special events include Sinatra on Ice every Tuesday, Live bands on NYE and a Bollywood themed night in January.
Natural History Museum Ice Rink
Supported by Starbucks, the 1,000 square metre outdoors ice rink with the stunning, gothic Natural History Museum as a backdrop is once again set in the heart of South Kensington. With a two-storey bar & cafe area with a viewing balcony, a small rink for kids and a Christmas tree decorating the centre of the rink, this truly is a South London ice skating haven.
Ice Age 4 Ice Rink, Winter Wonderland
The Hyde Park Christmas extravaganza offers something for everyone. Of course they have an ice rink! This one is set around a beautiful Victorian bandstand and decorated with lots of fairy lights. You can glide on the ice being surrounded by the buzzing colours, music and crowds of Winter Wonderland.
