PI's 25 Steps to Christmas - Step Fourteen: Alternative Ways of Spending Christmas
14 Dec 2013 | Don Macbeath
If you're bored of a traditional Christmas and don't feel like eating your weight in turkey, before falling asleep on the sofa in front of bad TV, consider spending your Christmas day in one of the following ways:
Get Involved with a Charity
Christmas is the time for giving, and what could be more selfless than giving up your Christmas Day and volunteering your services to a homeless shelter. What a rewarding and meaningful way of spending this holiday!
Take a Trip
This year why no spend Christmas abroad by getting away to a new destination with your family or friends. Let this trip be your present to one another. Our favourite destinations are Lapland in Finland, Amsterdam in Holland and Munich in Germany.
How about the Greenwich cycle ride, which is becoming something of a Christmas tradition in itself? Cyclists set off from the Cutty Sark in South-East London at 10am. The route goes through Battersea Park and ends in Edgeware Road. Or get your New Year's resolutions started a week early by going to a gym.
Go to Church
While museums, galleries, and most of the restaurants are closed, Christmas is traditionally the busiest day for churches, with several millions of worshipers attending the service on the 25th.
