The same fresh, natural ingredients that you use in your recipes, can do wonders to your skin. Add a homemade face mask to your weekly routine and boast firmer, younger-looking skin. Food facials are fun, simple and purse friendly! We've chosen some foods that are worth experimenting with for your next at-home beauty session.
Banana + Honey
Bananas are great for nourishing the skin and honey hydrates it and enhances your natural glow. It's great for all types of skin.
Mash 1 banana with 1 tablespoon of honey and mix until it forms a smooth paste. Gently rub it on your face and leave on for 10 minutes. This mask is sure to calm and clean your skin just in time for those bright spring days everybody is longing for.
Yoghurt + Cucumber
In addition to being a breakfast staple, yoghurt is an excellent skin smoother and purifier, combined with the cooling power of a cucumber, it makes for a fully relaxing and beneficial mask. To make this mask peel a cucumber and make a purée using both the peeled cucumber and plain (flavourless) Greek yoghurt. Apply to skin and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Feels great!
Make green tea your new beauty 'best friend' as it contains a great deal of antioxidants thus preventing premature ageing! Green tea has also been found to be effective in protecting the skin against sunburn when applied locally.
Chill damp tea bags in the fridge and put on skin for 10-15 minutes. Easy!
If you wish to preserve your young beautiful skin for as long as possible then an egg white facial mask is for you. Containing multiple proteins, egg white can help you fight against the elements, which inevitably effect your skin.
Mix your egg white really well before applying. Keep it on for 15-20 minutes. Try to do this mask on a daily basis. You'll be amazed!
Avocado + Olive Oil
Ripe avocado is full of antioxidants and vitamin A. If your skin is a bit dry, mash up half of an avocado and mix it with a teaspoon of olive oil to create a rich paste. Apply it to skin and leave it to dry for 15-20 minutes. You will notice how soft your skin will be afterwards.
Dilute 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of cool water. Use as a toner to lock in the effects.
