Mother’s Day is approaching fast, there’s only two days left to plan a perfect day for your mum. We are not talking about expensive gestures, it’s all about showing appreciation and letting her know how much you value her. With a tiny bit of preparation you can turn this Sunday into a perfect family day – and the result will be a very happy mum!

Do you feel that flowers or those expensive chocolate boxes you’ve got her for the past 2 years just don’t cut it anymore? Go the extra mile and treat her to something different. We think there’s no better gift than food – after all ‘People who love to eat are always the best people' (Julia Child).

Plan, prepare an serve - Mother's day in 3 steps

Start Mum’s special day in the best way possible, with food in bed. Pick out a few easy-to-make dishes, possibly try to avoid eggs and crumbly dishes (no one wants breadcrumbs in their bed, right?). Wake up early, put the finishing touches on the dishes and bring the tray to her for a nice surprise. Include a small bunch of her favourite flowers and a handmade card for that extra touch.

The key to success is not only showing your appreciation but also giving your mum a well-deserved break. Therefore it’s crucial to make sure you don’t leave the kitchen in chaos.

Afterwards take her for a walk to one of London’s park and surprise her with a lunch at that restaurant she wanted to visit for so long. On your way home stop by at her favourite Museum or take her for an old-school cinema ‘date’.


A PERFECT MENU FOR YOUR MOTHER

Breakfast in bed should be a fun experience for your mum as well as for you. Don’t overthink it, focus on simple, delicious dishes and execute them well.

Today we are sharing one of our easy-to-make recipes - everyone's favourite Dill Blinis with Smoked Salmon, Creme Fraiche and Keta Caviar. Serve it with a seasonal fruit platter and freshly squeezed Peach Strawberry juice presented in a Champagne flute for that special finish. Who wouldn't like smoked salmon, caviar and a delicious mocktail for breakfast?

Recipe - Dill Blini with Smoked Salmon, Creme Fraiche and Keta

Ingredients

100g plain flour
25g caster sugar
1 tsp soda bicarbonate
250ml creme fraiche
2 tsp chopped dill
1 small jar keta caviar
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 egg
500g smoked salmon
150ml milk
salt
1 lemon

Mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar, sugar and salt together. In a separate bowl, mix the egg and milk and then add to dry ingredients and blend together. Add the dill. Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot, wipe it off with some kitchen paper.

Using a dessert spoon drop individual rounds of the mixture into the pan. After a minute or so the bubbles will form and then burst, as they burst, flip the blini over using a palette knife and cook the other side.

Prepare an elegant platter of sliced smoked salmon and bowls of creme fraiche, keta and wedges of lemon.
