A powerhouse in the centre of The City of London, Guildhall has been a key part of London’s history since the 12th Century, an era when the Lord Mayor of London rivaled the monarch for influence and prestige. Built somewhere between 1411 and 1440, Guildhall was designed to reflect the power and reputation of London. This Grade-I listed building has hosted the most lavish ceremonies and events, from the Czar of Russia and King of Prussia to mark the defeat of Napoleon in 1814, to Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. As a significant part of London’s past and present, Guildhall prides itself on hosting events that are nothing short of spectacular.
With nine amazing spaces to choose from, or the option to hire the whole venue, Guildhall is flexible and well-equipped for your corporate or private events. The Art Gallery is rich in Victorian art providing a vibrant space with many a conversation starter. The largest space, and the annual setting for the Lord Mayor’s Banquet since 1502, is The Great Hall – a grand space with 5ft thick walls and two huge gothic stained-glass windows with the names of past Lord Mayor’s embellished on either end of the hall.
